On Serdashop you can found audio and video cards to be used mostly on PC. For example there are two cards which are connected to the parallel port of a PC, especially those which can't use ISA/PCI sound cards such as old portables :

• OPL3LPT which uses a Yamaha sound chip : OPL3 which you can found in many msdos sound cards starting with the Sound Blaster Pro 2.0). You can see the OPL3LPT being used wit the Police Quest 3 demo
• S2P, which permits to use General MIDI. MIDI was at msdos time the best sound ever, but MIDI expander were not cheap. You can see the S2P with the game Betrayal of Krondor (nice music)

Pulkomandy has created a card for Amstrad CPC(+) : Willy which lets you use an OPL3LPT or S2P on it. He wrote two programs to use the OPL3LPT which you can found on his page :

• SA2 Surprise! Adlib Tracker player by Madram
• VGM player by PulkoMandy (uncompressed VGM at the moment)

By the way, there are other ways to use MIDI on an Amstrad CPC, but it will be for another day (hint, use serial, usifac, LambdaSpeak...).

Ghosts'N Goblins is a classic arcade game by Capcom in 1985 and released by Elite in 1986 on Amstrad CPC.

Targhan has released Arkos Tracker v2.0.1 for linux, windows and mac.

The v2.0.1 doesn't have many new features, but important bug fixes on some players, and a new 6502 player conversion for Atari 8 bits (XE/XL)! The family is getting bigger.

MrT has written a music remake of Cybernoid (Hewson).

This remake has been sampled and being played on an emulated Amstrad CPC on this video by Markus Hohmann.

Robert Kehrer has written a soundtrakker player in javascript (on github). Sound isnt perfect at the moment due to no AY-3-8910 soundchip emulation, but it's a good start !

Edouard Bergé wrote on CPCWiki about his newest utility : WAY2AY. It's an audio utility to transform a wave file to directly AY registers using fourrier transform to lower the file size output.

Jeroen tel has written a un musical remix of Cybernoid 2.

Targhan has released the finale version of Arkos Tracker v2.0 for linux, windows and mac.

There is also direct support of Arkos AT2 songs in basic with this tutorial !

A new version of Mod Master XT beta 22 by FreddyV is available on Vogons. It lets you hear a lot of music modules formats on any PC under msdos even a PC XT (CGA), for example an Amstrad PC 1512/1640 or a PPC 512/640...

New features are :

• Fixed one bug for the Tandy Port config
• Added OPL3LPT Support
• Changed in the way the mixing buffers are managed
• Added the support for the Tandy DAC output (DMA)

He is also the author of AYAY Kaeppttn!a SID player/tracker .

He is working on AY³ aka AYcubed, a new SID engine which emulates some parts of the SID sound like:

• 3 independent voices
• synthesized square and sawtooth wave forms
• variable duty cycle on square waves Stereo!

I recommand to listen to the Amstrad CPC music by E-dredon which is composing music with a Playcity (made by ToTO), which means 3 AY sound chip for a total of 9 channels.
