I am the happy owner of 2 Orion Prime (see below). Well 1 copy will be given there as soon as I find a proper contest.
As you can see the exterior of the box is really nice, and what you will find inside is as good as the exterior (very funny, but I wont say more). There is also an audio CD inside.
Orion prime did let me know that : 1) I have a dead CPC (thanks god, my MP-2F is still working), 2) I have a CPC with a bad video cable, 3) I have a CPC with keys which wont work anymore, 4) I have a working CPC, 5) I have a working CPC+ but with no 3,5" drive (which I already knew). Thanks Orion Prime :-) That said, I should have 1 or 2 more CPC somewhere else in my home, but I will do some archeology work later.
First experience with the game, graphics are nice (but we already knew that), the interface is simple and easy to use, the texts are loaded with a good sense of humor (any Heinlein lovers in Arkos and Les sucres en morceaux ?), and I know at least that I can open doors blocked with codes.
Dont forget that Orion Prime is out tomorrow 16th September 2009 (french only, but english, german and spanish will be available later). If you ordered Orion Prime, you will receive it soon. Otherwise you will only be able to download it as a .DSK file the 28th October 2009.
Lachlan Keown, who lives in New Zealand, just released its latest Amstrad CPC production : Robotron 6128, a conversion of the classic arcade game, if you use keyboard, WASD to move and cursor keys to shoot.
He is also the author of Sewer Rat, take the cheese before the aliens does (poor aliens, eating cheese is awful).
He has also written AMSprite for windows (using .Net framework v2.0) or AMSprite for linux/mac (using MONO), which is a cross-development GUI tool to generate ready-to-use sprites and loading screens for the Amstrad CPC in assembly language (CPC+ hardware sprites supported).
GameBase CPC v9 is available.
Ignacio Pérez Gil. has released a remake of Alien 8 for windows/mac with a nice graphic touch.
Sort'Em by LuBlu Entertainment is an Amstrad CPC game programmed with Z88dk and cpcrslib. You must sort blue and red balls which falls down the screen, putting them to the left or the right according to the color just with the space bar, simple to play, but not so easy with the 3 levels of difficulty. It was first seen on portable phones.
CPC Game Reviews used to review only commercial games. Good news is now they will also review newly released games, so go read the last update.
I will myself report the games in the following news later (and add them to the amstrad database).
CPCMania has 15 new GX4000 cartridges covers (23 in total, manuals also).
Antibug has ported Sorcery+ for windows with the original graphics. For the moment it's a very nice playable beta. The first level where you have to rescue several sorcerers isnt totally completed, lacking the end screen for example, and the second level where you have to kill the evil sorcerer isnt available yet.
On Antibug's main page (french) you will find his own tools for Amstrad CPC developpement.
Archon classic the remake for Iphone of Archon, has been updated, featuring a new board layout, characters can level up and gain new abilities, new particles effects for weapons and characters, smarter AI, visual bugs fixed. Multiplayer isnt still available.
The game costs 2,39 € but there is also a free lite version if you want to try the game (with limited features as 6 characters instead of 18 for example).
You can see a video of Archon classic on Youtube.
A demo of Cosmic Prison Commando is available. It's a windows game with an amazing Amstrad CPC look. If this demo v1.1 doesnt work for you, get the previous one.
